Getting Rid of an Old Hot Tub: What to Expect
Hot tubs are heavy, awkward and often stuck behind fences. Here's how removal works from start to finish.
By the INSTA team· 4 min read

A typical hot tub can weigh several hundred pounds empty, and many sit on decks or behind fences with narrow gates. Removal is very doable with the right crew and a bit of preparation.
Before removal day
- Drain the tub completely
- Have a qualified electrician disconnect the power
- Clear a path from the tub to the driveway or street
- Let us know about stairs, gates and deck height
On removal day
If the tub can't be rolled out whole, our crew cuts it into manageable sections. We remove the shell, cabinet, cover and steps, then clean up the area.
What about the deck or pad?
Many homeowners remove the surrounding deck at the same time. We can quote deck demolition along with the hot tub so everything goes in one visit.
