Booking a junk removal crew is the easy part. A little preparation beforehand helps the job go quickly, keeps your estimate accurate, and makes sure nothing you want to keep ends up on the truck.
1. Decide what stays and what goes
Walk through each room or area and make a clear call on every item. Sticky notes or painter's tape work well — for example, green for keep and red for remove. When our crew arrives, you can simply point to what goes.
2. You don't need to drag everything to one spot
Many people assume they need to pile their junk in the driveway first. You don't. Our crew removes items from wherever they are — basements, attics, upstairs bedrooms, garages and backyards. Leaving heavy items in place is often safer.
3. Disconnect appliances ahead of time
Refrigerators should be emptied and defrosted, washers drained, and any gas, water or hard-wired electrical connections disconnected by a qualified professional before your appointment. Once an appliance is free, we take care of the lifting.
4. Set aside items we can't take
- Paint, solvents and household chemicals
- Gasoline, oil and propane tanks
- Asbestos and other regulated materials
- Medical and biohazard waste
Your county solid waste department can tell you about household hazardous waste drop-off options in your area.
5. Clear a path and plan parking
Make sure the crew can get from the items to the truck. Move cars if needed so the truck can park close by, and let us know about gate codes, stairs or tight hallways when you book.
6. Ask for an on-site estimate
Pricing is based on how much space your items take up in the truck. Because our estimates are free and on site, you'll know the exact price before any work begins — and if you approve, we can usually finish the job right away.
